Rev. Matthew Miller - Pastor
pastor@1st-presbyterianchurch.org

Rev. Matthew Miller has been the Pastor at First Church since January of 2007. His call to this congregation came as they were searching for a ‘sheepdog’, which was the perfect fit for how Matthew understands his role. The Psalms declare that God is our shepherd(Psalm 23), and Jesus himself says that he is the good shepherd (John 10:11). Having no desire to fill those shoes, Matthew is happy to share with anyone who will listen just how great he thinks it is to follow the One who gives us peace and restores our souls. After graduating from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2003, Matthew was ordained to his first call to serve the First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski, Tennessee, where he learned the ropes of ministry and the value of good pork barbeque. He is a firm believer that faith is about more than agreeing with a certain set of ideas, it is a posture and attitude of trust in what God has done and is continuing to do in the world. Jesus calls it the “Kingdom of God”, and Matthew finds no greater joy than introducing others to the way this Kingdom is seen and experienced every day through the community of friends Jesus has gathered together. Matthew grew up in Denver, CO and still roots for his hometown teams. He also enjoys movies, swimming, and hanging around the house with his wife, Marie and their two daughters, Miranda and Grace.
